For the past couple of months, there have been many changes happening at Ucommerce. Even now, we’re in the process of adjusting and switching things up. From a distance, it may seem like everything at Ucommerce is changing – but if you take a closer look, you’ll see that it’s not the case.
This year marks a decade since the birth of Ucommerce. From the very beginning, our platform was being developed and improved according to the tagline “Content and Commerce Connected”. These words motivated us to create seamless integrations with four Content Management Systems: Umbraco, Sitecore, Sitefinity and Kentico. But they also reminded us of the importance of the Digital Merchant. Right now, the main focus of the company is going back to the core and improving the product so that Ucommerce is perceived as the shop owner’s assistant, making the work easy and effortless.
At the end of last year, we officially ended the CMS strategy and started focusing on the core product. Already back then, we made a few changes: since we needed as many people on board as possible, we decided to modify the rules of our support packages to ensure that we could scale our support services and keep our product developers focused on improving our product. It turned out to be a good decision – with everyone involved, we quickly released Ucommerce 8 and introduced a dashboard and a live feed. But that was just the first step towards connecting the Digital Merchant with their store, and we realized that the changes needed to continue – but on a much bigger scale.
Probably the biggest news for the company is the change of our CEO, as Søren Spelling Lund, the founder of Ucommerce, is stepping down and switching his role to Product Owner. Søren will be responsible for making sure that we develop our product in accordance with our core values – and we can’t imagine anyone else doing it better than the founder himself. We are currently looking for someone to take over, guide the company into the right direction and lead it towards success.
Furthermore, we decided it was time for the company to grow. We started with the development team and brought on another Søren in a senior product development role. We also needed new people who would be assigned specifically for support purposes, helping our partners and customers succeed with Ucommerce. And so, we found George, our first dedicated Support Specialist, who will soon be joined by a new colleague. But the changes didn’t stop there. Our newest member of the Sales and Marketing team, Mette de Linde, became the head of the department, bringing new and fresh ideas into our company.
All of that happened in such a short period of time that it may seem like they would complete change the direction of where Ucommerce, but in fact, it’s quite the opposite. With new roles assigned and new people hired, we want to make our product even better and achieve the best results, while sticking to the same strategy and the same values we have always followed and believed in.
We are bolstering product development, support, and business development to ensure that we continue to deliver the best e-commerce product to market. We are incredibly excited about these changes and we think you will be too.
