The New Partner Model of Ucommerce

2020 is going to bring a lot of changes, a lot of new faces and hopefully a lot of joy.

One of the most important new points of focus is to review our Partner Model, which we plan to revisit and improve throughout the first quarter of 2020. A Partner Model where everything is up for grabs and where our partners are the engine of Ucommerce.

As a part of the new focus, we are looking at improving our platform and collaboration with our partners. Our partners are what makes our platform great, which is why it is so crucial for us to make our Partner Model more collaborative. It is not that our former Partner Model has not worked, but there are always ways to improve and by revisiting every single aspect of our Partner Model, we are making sure that the new model can help us achieve our goals.

In November 2019, we hosted the annual Ucommerce Partner Summit, at which we invited our partners to give us feedback on how to strengthen our relationships even more, and how they wish to collaborate. We also examined the constructive feedback we already received, taking a closer look at both the positives and the negatives.

But let us start by wiping the slate clean. In the video below you can hear Mette de Linde, VP of Sales, talk about our Partner Model at our Partner Summit 2019.

Making Our Partner Model a Two-Way Street

Having Mette de Linde’s words in mind - “we want to make sure we do this the right way” – we have been out in the field (and will continue to do so) to gather information and valuable insights from our partners which can be used when revisiting the Partner Model. As part of the research, we conducted a feedback session at the Partner Summit, which resulted in the following takeaways:

  • Focus on the product and constantly give the product the love and care it deserves
  • Stronger collaborations between Ucommerce and the partners
  • Partners need to have a better foundation to sell the Ucommerce product, where we need to be involved in the market along with the partners, helping them to sell licenses through value propositions

These insights are valuable to us when reviewing the Partner Model as we are able to tailor it both to our own and our partners’ expectations and needs. By doing so, we can optimize the model and achieve our goal of being more collaborative with our partners; making it a two-way street

The Most Loved Partner

As of now, we might not be our partners’ most preferred partner due to the size and complexity of our product. We are not offering an “out-of-the-box” solution - the Ucommerce platform needs tailoring and caring, it must and can be customized to the clients needs, and therein lies our strength - but this complexity is also challenging and makes the enabling of our partners to sell the licenses even more crucial.

We understand our position in the market as a subcontractor and platform provider - and we want to be the best at what we do: be the partner that is reachable when you need it, the partner you look forward to contacting when doing a project with a client, the partner that can help you with your problems through support.

We strive to be the most loved partner - this is our ultimate goal.

Roadmap to Success

The new Partner Model is set to be released at the end of March 2020, but there is still a lot of work to be done. In January, we are hosting an advisory board of partners wishing to help with making the new Partner Model. We are certain that this will result in a model that creates real value for both us and our partners.

Is this going to be difficult? Without a doubt, but we are humble. We are determined. We are confident.
