The Partner Summit is a yearly event where we invite our global partner network to our hometown, Aarhus, to present and show what we have been working on and what our focus is for the future so they can be up to date in their work with Ucommerce. This year, we increased the focus on tech and therefore included both a business and a tech track with awesome presentations. Beyond presenting new initiatives and focus areas in tech, we focused on gathering feedback from our partners and making sure that what we create and improve going forward resonates with the needs and wants of our ecosystem.
And of course, to have lots of fun at this year’s venue, Tivoli Friheden, which included rollercoaster riding, beautiful surroundings, and delicious food!
Humble. Determined. Confident.
The Partner Summit was the first of its kind for our rather newly-appointed CEO, Hannu. He made the bold move, together with the rest of the team, to take a 100% transparent approach this year. He kicked off the summit with his keynote “State of Ucommerce”. In line with his decision, Hannu decided to reuse the presentation he used when he first laid out his findings for the Ucommerce team three weeks after he was appointed CEO.
In other words, it was the exact same raw, unfiltered, and no-fingers-in-between presentation he delivered to our partners last week. A bold move indeed. However, the reason behind was to show, that Ucommerce is moving in a more focused direction. We know that Ucommerce had lost its way for a bit in regards to focus - but we are now finding our way back. We are humble in regards to the history of Ucommerce and the incredible work our founder Søren Spelling has done. We are determined to make awesome software and be the most loved e-commerce partner in the Sitecore, Umbraco and Sitefinity space. And we are confident that we can achieve this goal - no doubt.
A New Summit
Besides the transparent approach, as mentioned before, we decided to change the setup for the summit. Ucommerce is a tech company which is why it was natural to not only reserve this day for our commercial partners but let them bring along their dear developers. They are the ones who actually work with our software on a daily basis so their opinions matter greatly. In order to cater to both our commercial and tech-oriented guests, the track was split into two after the initial keynotes.
During the business track, Tim Gaunt, Managing Director at The Site Doctor, held an awesome speech about how to work with Ucommerce without entering a crisis. His speech was followed by our own Mette De Linde, Paul Vass, and Carlos Monteiro who held a minor workshop regarding the new Ucommerce partner model. From now on, it is all about listening, listening, and listening. Becoming closer to our partners is essential for us to thrive in our global ecosystem. As a part of this strategy, all partners took part in a feedback session. Imagine post-its everywhere, small group work, and top-notch takeaways. Thank you for your efforts!
Meanwhile, the tech track unfolded at another venue in Tivoli Friheden. Lennard Fonteijn from Arlarnet, NL, spoke about “Speeding up Ucommerce”. Afterward, Ucommerce’s own David Kelemen and Morten Skjoldager took the stage with their respective speaks; “The New Face of Ucommerce” and “Search Driven API”. They presented two major projects, Project Kondo & Project Bolt, which the dev-team has worked intensely on and are super proud of. We will cover the presentations and projects in a blog post of their own. They deserve some space. Stay tuned.
In the video below, Hannu makes a short and sweet recap of the summit. Enjoy!
Next year we will repeat the success of this year’s summit. Hopefully, we will see even more of you.
